His Spanish Must be Better Than His English...

I´m good with the shirts....I´ve got enough to make it through the week and get them washed. With the P-day thrown in there Ive got enough don´t worry :D you can get clothing here (quality at that) quite cheaply. Although if you´d like to you could send me a bag or two of mate (like they drink in Argentina) and some reeses I´d like that. So today my companion are going to make banana bread! woohoo! There is a family that is pretty amazing in our ward that we do stuff with pretty much every week. Like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with chips in the middle. (they have two daughters 6 and 9 who just loved them) and other random stuff like that.
So I´m still in the same area in Lima, this change will put me up to 6 months. HA. But its alright one more change I´ll have the record for the ward for staying the longest. So random thought...I found mate here the other week (a member gave me a bag she brought from Argentina) and I´ve acquired the bombilla (straw thing) and a matero (thing you put the mate in) and I´ve been enjoying it quite a bit. Here in Lima its kinda tough to baptize sometimes. But we got a really good reference from some members who live in another part of Lima. Hopefully this week we can take a baptism date with them. They´ve gone to church 4 times with their friends and 2 more consecutive times. (and they´re married, which is an oddity for Peru. generally people kinda just live together here)

Well anywho that´s all for this week! Thanks for the email everyone!

An Email from Elder Moore!

Hey there! So things are going well...I´m still in the same area in Lima (Comas). It´s kinda a sketchy area :D...but the people here are great. Just takes a few bad apples to ruin an area....like the people who do drugs outside our house. Yeah....well thats just at night though during daylight hours things are pretty safe. Well at lest for missionaries :D. My comp is from Guatemala...takes a lot of effort to get him to do things...but I do what I can. Hopefully I´ll get someone who likes to work the next change.

As for the "Cold" its not too bad...just chilly not cold. But I gotta be careful...as the Cold here is "moist" and the moisture will pass through my skin to my bones. oh wait...thats just what they believe here. Health knowledge here is kinda strange for example lots of things are good for your kidneys. My favorite question to ask at lunch time with the members is if the food that we may be eating is good for the kidneys. Most of the time they say no...but proceed to say that it´s good for the liver or something. Oh well....

So I was wondering if you guys could pass me the chocolate chip cookie recipie that Christy used to make the cookies....I´d like to use it in an activity that We´re planning for the Relief Society.

Well anywho Gotta run now I´ll talk to you later!

Hey there Anamarie! Well things are going alright here. Having a little bit of trouble trying to find people who will progress but we`ve got a couple who really are. We got a reference the other day from a member and he`s progressing quite nicely...this week we should be able to take a baptism date with him.

Well a tad short of time gotta run!

LIMA!!!! should be interesting....I still have not been there yet. Hopefully I don`t get robbed there. HA...it would make the 4th time I`ll be robbed here in Peru. Oh well. Well that`s about all the news I have this week. Oh We completed a family on Sunday. An inactive member was living with his girlfriend and well she started to go to church. We invited her to another baptism and there when the person who was baptized was changing she asked what she needed to do to get baptized. So I told her she`d need to get married then she could be baptized. (here its really hard to get hitched due to requirements of the government ie lots of red tape) Well we got them married last week and on Friday she got baptized and Sunday was confirmed.

that`s about it....Oh I`m headed to Comas in Lima...should be interesting there.

Hey there Dad. Well this week as been quite a hectic week but the fruits of our labors are finally starting to show...for a while thought we were not going to have any baptisms for this week. But out of the wood work came about 4 people who can be baptized this weekend (we`ve got 2 scheduled and 2 for the next weekend 3 of april.)So the next transfers are going to be on tyhe 7th of april. I`m kinda wanting to have a new area...hahah....4.5 months in one place is kinda long. Knocking the same doors just gets depressing....specially when they remember you and tell you that they still don`t want to listen. Oh well. Kinda hoping I can go to Moyobama....weathers a bit nicer (as it has been really hot this past week) and they have caves. Could be pretty fun :D The other day I bought fabric paint. Pretty excited to do something crafty for a change. Not quite sure what I`m going to do yet...but that`ll come later. Well anywho gotta run now...Talk to you guys later.

Packges!!!!

WOOOO HOOOO!!! I finally  got the Chirstmas/Birthday packages and thanks a ton for all the goodies...It`s been a long time since I`ve been able to eat some good snacks...and good cookies (great job Chirsty!) as Peru is kinda lacking in the sweets department.

So I don`t remember if I told you but I`ll be staying in Tarapoto for another 6 weeks! Should be kinda cool well kinda hot at the same time. But anyways this month the goals for the mission are to break every record in every area...which means the goal for my comp and I will be 10 baptisms this month. Well anywho gotta get going now! I`ll write some more next week.

Hello there Dad! Yup I`m still in Tarapoto and I should finally be receiving the packages on Wednesday! woo hoo! Sounds like everyone is doing well there. Abbey seems to be having a good year in school. Oh a question for you guys could you have michael send me a USB dirve? something along the lines of about 8 gb or so. (he can find a creative way to send it hollowed out book perhaps)

Gotta get going....Still doing well though!

oh I`ve lost 13 lbs so far hahaha

Monday, January 25, 2010

Hey there dad and everyone! Well life`s been alright everything has its ups and downs. I`ve been working hard and now the fruits of the labor are starting to show :P ie we`re working with a family who should be baptized on the 6th of feb and a few others who are slowly progressing. It really is quite different here. My friend Bradley Hansen from BYU is in the Moscow Russia mission and so far (7 months) he`s only close to having 1 baptism. Really is quite different here. We can usually have about 4-6 lessons daily 2 or 3 of which are just from knocking doors. (a tad different from there too I believe)

So I`m pretty excited to see all of the kiddos again...in 1.5 more years ha! They all sound pretty cute...all of them should be saying ridiculous things when I get back too.

So about the packages....when I`m away from lima they only bring the packages for the transfers and the interviews. So if the packages have arrived here in peru I won`t be getting them for another 2 or 3 weeks as thats when we have the next interviews. So hopefully I`ll be getting them then.

So as for me I`ve been doing alright. So far I`ve written in my journal everyday even if its just 3 or 4 lines (never really have anything to write) but I guess thats alright. I`m going to send some more pictures home pretty soon...I`ve gotta burn them to a disk first though. They are better than the last batch too!!

Well gotta run now Talk to you later!

Hey there...don`t have much time but here`s a little bit for you guys....on P-days we usually go and go sight seeing in the morning...for example today we`re going to go hike to some water falls which should be pretty cool. Other days we`ve had free so we could do what ever we want. I`m thinking that today I may possibly buy a hamock :D and we email in the morning and at 6 we have to go out and work. But yeah...clothing is skimped a bit here IE short shorts, skirts shirts etc....and when mothers have to feed they just kinda do it in front of you kinda awkward if you ask me.

Anywho I`ll talk to you soon!
